ABSTRACT Objective:To observe the clinical effects of Xingnaojing injections combined with ceftriaxone in the adjunctive therapy of children with purulent meningitis. Methods: Totally 100 cases of children with purulent meningitis were randomly divided into the control group (50 cases) and the treatment group (50 cases). The control group only received conventional treatment, the treatment group was additionally given Xingnaojing injections 0.4-0.6 ml·kg-1·d-1, and the treatment course was 3 days. The average time of normal temperature, the time of normal WBC counts in blood and cerebrospinal fluid and the length of stay in the two groups were compared, the levels of TNF-α and CRP in serum and cerebrospinal fluid in the two groups were also compared, and the clinical efficacy, complications and sequel after 6 month follow up of the two groups were studied as well. Results: Compared with those in the control group, the average time of normal temperature and normal WBC counts in cerebrospinal fluid was shorter in the treatment group(P<0.05), the levels of TNF-α and CRP in serum and cerebrospinal fluid were decreased greatly(P<0.05), the clinical efficiency was higher(P<0.05), and there were no significant differences in the other indices between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Xingnaojing injections combined with conventional treatment show good adjunctive effects on purulent meningitis, which is worthy of wide clinical use. |
