ABSTRACT Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics of cephalosporin encephalopathy in maintenance hemodialysis patients.Methods:Patients in maintenance hemodialysis treated with cephalosporin antibiotics,occurred cephalosporin encephalopathy from April 2004 to January 2012 were retrospectively analysed.Results: 7 patients in maintenance hemodialysis developed cephalosporin encephalopathy, all patients had no neurological signs of localization before and after diseases onset, there were no significant difference in serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen,electrolytes,glucose,blood gas analysis,hemoglobin,and no acute lesions by brain CT/MRI examination. After discontinuation of antibiotics and blood perfusion, 6 patients recovered and 1 patient died.Conclusion:Cephalosporin antibiotics can cause neuropsychiatric symptoms in maintenance hemodialysis patients. |
