ABSTRACT Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of paliperidone and risperidone on treating the first episode schizophrenia patients and observe the effect on the patients’metabolism,so as to provide the basis for clinical choice of drugs.Methods:86 cases of first episode schizophrenia patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group, 43 cases each. The observation group were treated by paliperidone and the control group were treated by risperidone for 8 weeks. The PANSS scores, body weight, flight blood sugar (FBS), cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and serum prolactin (PRL) of the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results:In the end of the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 8th week after the treatment, the two groups’ positive symptom scores, negative symptom scores and total scores were significantly lower than before (P<0.05). The observation group’ scores were significantly lower than the control group in every time point(P<0.05). The total efficiency of observation group was 81.4% while it was 76.74% in the control group, there were not significantly difference(P>0.05). After treatment, the TC, TG, PRL and body weight were increased significantly in the control group (P<0.05),but only the PRL and body weight were increased significantly in the observation group (P<0.05). The increase of PRL and body weight of the observation group were less than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Paliperidone had the same clinical efficacy with risperidone on treating the schizophrenia. But its improvement of the positive symptom and the negative symptom were significantly better than risperidone. And it had less effect on glucose and lipid metabolism, body weight and prolactin than risperidone. |
