| ABSTRACT To explore the role of procalcitonin in infection and prevention of infection and to provide evidence for rational use of antibacterial drugs, in this article, the computer was used to retrieve the articles used in the infection of PubMed, EMBase, Cochrane Library, Chinese journal full text database and Weipu Chinese database. The results demonstrated that procalcitonin original has high specificity and sensitivity to infection. The decision whether use antibacterial drugs or not depends on the continuous monitoring of the procalcitonin original and the changes of calcitonin level. The extent of infection in patients who are already infected or at risk can be quantified in this way. |
